My Brain Says Stop, But My Heart Says Go! is the latest uplifting release from a group that began as a spinoff from the Christian rap-metal band Thousand Foot Krutch. This time out, FM Static offers such infectious tunes as (Hey) I Want It,F.M.S.T.A.T.I.C. and the title number with plenty of rousing, all-join-together energy. Singer/guitarist Trevor McNevan is especially good at capturing a nostalgic sense of longing in tracks like Cinnamon & Lipstick and Last Train Home. The band's musical attack matches slicing guitar riffs with bubbly melodies and grooves that range from rock to hip-hop in feel. The bratty sarcasm of U Don't Know Me Like That is balanced by the sensitivity of Black Tattoo (a look at an abusive relationship) and Inside Out (a waltzing love song reminiscent of '90s-era Edwin McCain). My Brain… overflows with shamelessly catchy hooks and chant-along choruses, but beyond its bounce and fizz is a positive, Spirit-grounded message as well. - itunes
