In March 2002, sixsteprecords released Can You Hear Us? , the debut project from the David Crowder Band. Composed of lead vocalist and acoustic guitarist David Crowder, electric guitarists Jack Parker and Jason Solley, drummer Jeremy Bush, bass guitarist Mike Dodson, and electric violinist Mike Hogan, the group artistically blends modern worship with edgy pop/rock sounds. The result is a type of style that might arise from a melting pot consisting of Delirious? and Matt Redman tracks. According to Crowder, the album "has a couple of themes...first, there is the fact that often we all feel disconnected from God. Second, there is a breakthrough realization of the truth: that we are living in the absolutely constant very presence of God. And when we realize that, we can't help but find rescue" (Sparrow Records). Songs include "You're Everything," a track opening with a very purposeful acoustic guitar melody which builds until dropping off at the bridge, only to be later joined by violins and a drum loop resembling the clapping of hands. Also featured is the intense and thought-provoking, yet at the same time lyrically tender "God of Wrath" and the band's stirring interpretation of Martin Smith's "Obsession." - iTunes
