Released in 2010, Beat the Devil's Tattoo is Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's fifth studio album and their first full-length on their own Abstract Dragon label, here as a UK import CD. It's also the band's first album with drummer Leah Shapiro, and its sound draws a map across American music — from howling front-porch stomps to swaggering proto-punk sneer in NYC's basement bars. The title comes from a phrase in Edgar Allan Poe's 1839 short story "The Devil in the Belfry."
