Belle & Sebastian formed as a simple college music class assignment to put together and market an album. They only cut 1,000 copies of "Tigermilk," their debut album in 1996. They had no idea it would gain a ground swell of a following in their native Scotland and the greater U.K. before jumping the pond to the U.S. The band had prearranged to break up with the close of the class...but then they hit the bigtime. This is the 1999 re-issue on Matador records.
